Position Summary

Position Summary

Landjourney is seeking an experienced QA Engineer to own quality across our lending platform. This is a hands-on role that spans manual exploratory testing, automated end-to-end test development using Playwright, and the integration of AI-assisted tooling into modern testing workflows. In addition to internal quality responsibilities, this role includes direct support of Landjourney's platform customers — the agricultural lending companies who rely on our software daily — helping them resolve bugs, answer technical questions, and feel confident in the product. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, product managers, and customers to ensure software reliability, identify defects early, and contribute to a culture of continuous quality improvement. While this position is primarily remote after onboarding, candidates must be available to work in-office during the initial onboarding period, during integration releases, and on-demand following prior coordination with the team. We have a preference for candidates based in Calgary, AB or Montreal, QC, or those able to align with Central/Mountain Time working hours.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning & Execution

  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans covering functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing scenarios

  • Develop domain fluency in agricultural lending workflows — including loan origination, land valuation, and compliance processes — to write meaningful, business-aware test cases

  • Identify, document, and track defects with precision; communicate risk clearly to development and product stakeholders

  • Participate in sprint planning and backlog grooming to assess testability and raise quality concerns proactively

Test Automation

  • Build, maintain, and continuously expand an end-to-end automated test suite using Playwright

  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or equivalent) to accelerate test authoring, generate edge-case scenarios, and enhance coverage analysis

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines; define and enforce quality gates prior to deployment

  • Write modular, maintainable, well-documented test code suitable for long-term team use

Platform Customer Support

  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact for Landjourney's platform customers (agricultural lending companies) on issues related to bugs, unexpected behaviour, and product questions

  • Triage incoming support requests, reproduce reported issues in test environments, and communicate clear timelines and resolutions back to customers

  • Distinguish between user error, configuration issues, and genuine software defects; escalate confirmed bugs to the development team with thorough reproduction steps and environment details

  • Maintain a support log and feed customer-reported issues back into the QA process — ensuring recurring problems are covered by automated regression tests

  • Build strong working relationships with platform customers, acting as a knowledgeable and responsive liaison between their teams and Landjourney engineering

Collaboration & Quality Advocacy

  • Partner with developers to shift quality left — reviewing requirements, participating in design reviews, and providing testing input during feature development

  • Maintain test documentation, QA runbooks, and internal standards

  • Evaluate and recommend new QA tooling and AI-augmented testing practices as the landscape evolves

  • Serve as a quality advocate across the engineering team, raising the bar on testability and release confidence
